London, UK - 9th June, 2008 - London Mums, the only free and independent peer support group for mums based in London, announced today that South-African best-selling author Megan Faure will be holding a free seminar on "Understanding the crying infant and chaotic toddler" during a pampering event to be held on 20th June at edutainment centre Eddie Catz Putney from 7 to 9 p.m (for address and directions check below). The event will be free to all registered London Mums and members of the press. Anyone who is interested in attending can register for free by simply sending an email to monica@londonmums.org.uk. Spaces are limited.
Megan's talk will cover the hazards of over-stimulation and an original theory that answers the big question in most parents' and doctors' minds which is "Why is my baby/toddler crying?" In this talk Megan debunks the colic myth and looks at calming measures for babies and toddlers alike. It covers babies' states and how sensory input affects the baby and how over stimulation leads to colic. In the 21st century the pressure on parents to nurture brilliant children is enormous. Parents easily fall into the trap of over stimulating and over scheduling children. This talk looks at the hazards of over stimulation and gives practical tips on how best to stimulate and appropriately schedule our kids according to their age.
Megan is the co-author of the best-selling baby care books 'Baby Sense'. The book is written for mothers on the Sensory Integration approach to parenting the baby in the first year. Her second book 'Sleep Sense' was published in October 2007. She has worked in paediatrics for thirteen years both in the USA and South Africa. Megan is the founder and chairperson of Infant Sensory Integration Training programme.
